About

In the 2014 State Budget, Labor removed the general remission payments for the ESL tax. This resulted in massive increases to ESL bills. Some people had increases of more than 1,000%.

Less than a year later, Labor announced it would AGAIN increase the ESL tax for households and businesses by a further 9%.

And in the latest blow, the Weatherill Government has confirmed a THIRD increase of 1.5% for 2016/17.

There is no justification for the Weatherill Labor Government dipping further into the pockets of South Australians by increasing the ESL tax three years in a row.

This tax hits families, sporting clubs, community organisations, churches, independent schools and homeowners.

Enough is enough.

A State Liberal Government will return the ESL general remission that Mr Weatherill and Mr Koutsantonis removed in 2014 to provide South Australians with much needed tax relief.
